The Original True Grit
The fort was built along the edge of the Arkansas River to serve as an outpost and to protect the settlers from Indians.
They would come across the river from Indian Territory. Since Oklahoma was not yet a state, they could pull their raids
back across the river where it was illegal to go after them. They thought they were safe. But the U.S Marshals,
under Judge Parker, took off their badges and went into the territory.
